Police say a Mount Clare man is behind bars for forgery and fraud in four different counties.

40-year-old James Holtzman allegedly forged multiple checks from different Chase Bank locations. Holtzman also told a few different families that he would do work on their homes. These alleged victims reportedly wrote checks to him for thousands of dollars that have been cashed, but none of the work was ever done.

Preston County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a man for allegedly swiping money and checks from the Maple Leaf Motel in Bruceton Mills.

According to a press release, James Howard Holtzman, 40, was arrested after he was found with stolen items from the motel. Holtzman also had multiple warrants out of Marion, Monongalia and Harrison Counties.

Deputies said the boots he was wearing at the time of his arrest were consistent with the prints that were found at the motel, Tuesday.

Holtzman is charged with breaking and entering.
