5 NEWS UPDATE: Man Killed in Logging Accident Identified

UPDATE: Tuesday, February 26 6:00 p.m.
Deputies said 45-year-old Steven Knotts was the worker killed when the tree fell Monday afternoon.
Knotts, who is from Shock, West Virginia, was working for Pete Gould and Sons Inc.
UPDATE: Monday, February 25 6:45 p.m.
Doddridge County Sheriff's deputies said a man was killed when a log crushed him around 3 p.m. Monday.
A man cutting down trees for a right of way about 2 miles off of Punpkin Center Road tried running when the accident happened. According to reports, he was cutting down one tree, when it hit another one that had already been cut down but was lying on an angle. That tree then fell on top of the man.
Four other people were working in the area. They were not hurt.
Deputies aren't releasing the victim's name yet. The investigation is still on-going.

Neighbors told our reporter that a man was killed a little more than 2 miles down a side road off of Pumpkin Center Road in Doddridge County after an apparent workplace accident.
The medical examiner has already left the scene.
