UPDATE (1/24 11:45 PM)

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman told 5 News late Thursday night that this fire has been ruled an arson.

ORIGINAL STORY (1/23)

No one was hurt, or home, when a fire broke out in the basement of a home in Lewis County early Wednesday evening.

Firefighters told 5 News the blazed stared around 4:30 at a home off of Route 33 Westbound in Pricetown.

Apparently the fire started in the basement and crews were able to put it out before it spread anywhere else.

Investigators said the people who live in that home were staying with family Wednesday night.

The State Fire Marshal has been asked to take a look at the cause of the fire.
