5 NEWS UPDATE (4/8):
Officials have confirmed that Timothy Norris is now at home recovering from his injuries.
An inmate at USP Hazelton in Preston County stabbed a correctional officer sometime on Saturday.
According to Jared Henson, President of American Federation of Government Employees Council of Prisons Local 420, an inmate stabbed Officer Timothy Norris once in the pelvis area with a homemade metal weapon. Henson said the weapon was an ice pick shank made from the inmate's bunk bed.
The inmate's name has not been released. Henson said the inmate was serving a sentence for robbery and also faces a pending murder charge. The District Attorney will decide what charges the inmate will face for stabbing Officer Norris.
Officer Norris has been admitted overnight at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Henson said it's believed Norris was stabbed in the bladder.

I read a few other articles and they stated "above" the bladder, which in fact it was. That word easily could've been left out for greater publication as in fact it is getting. Also, names are public information. Have a wonderful day and if you was there, you should deal with the people in person that you have an issue with. Mr. Norris, I hope you recover soon and I'm honored to call you by name!!!!

After hearing and reading these workers' wondering if the workers are over 18 or UNDER 18? Hard to tell as the comments sound very whiney/childish.

Apr 09 at 3:50 PM; does your mommy know you comment on here? Just wondering as your constant 'child-like' whining doesn't help the cause. Growing up is a 'good' thing; try it!

Why can't this news station have enough respect for this Officer and his coworkers to call him by his proper title? He is a Correctional Officer, not a Prison Guard.

I was there as well. I have nothing against unions, but I wouldn't want my name out there either. He did not have permission to use his name. Ask Tim! Also, by the time the news stations were called we already knew his condition and that it hadn't hit his bladder.

All the information is accurate. I was there. Why are people so against the ones that really care?? Glad to be a part of this union. Couldn't imagine this place without it. Thank you Jared and keep them on their toes, we appreciate everything you do for us. Its funny that the comment made April 8 at 3:58pm was also made by a lieutenant at the institution. COWARDS!!!! Norris get better bro, we miss your crazy @ss.

To the whiner....maybe the reason you haven't heard a comment yet from those of us that commented earlier is because some of us WORK for a living and can't sit on here all day long.

On another note....regardless of what you workers whining would get from your protesting....THIS type of thing happens and will always happen when workers turn their backs on prisoners for one split second. Employees are all "human" and humans make mistakes. So do you have another point that makes any sense? This is the type of comments you protesters keep making that gives the community an opposite outlook on what you all really want!

You should not have mentioned the officers name in the Hazelton stabbing incident. Jared Henson did not have Mr. Norris' permission to release his name. He hadn't even been able to contact his mother before his name was out there. That puts the officers and their families in danger, especially since it was also mentioned where Officer Norris had been taken. In the future you should be more careful. Also, other information that Henson gave you was not factual. You should check out your sources and make sure your info is correct before putting it out there.

I have noticed that all the ones that had such negative thoughts of the prison and its staff have avoided to comment on this. Tim, your a good man. Thank you for everything you do and continue your hard work. Everyone on Misery Mountain, stay safe and keep fighting for the changes needed to prevent issues like this from coming up. I am sure the issues surrounding this inmate were just an oversight on part of the administration and this "isolated event" will be dealt with correctly with a lengthened lockdown to put in place preventative safety measures to prevent issues like this from occurring in the future. At least that is what I pray for. The administration for, for once, has good ideas for getting back control of the Pen. Now is the time to get them in place instead of catering to the wants and needs of these Thugs.

I'm so sorry that Tim and others like him who put their safty on the line every day to protect others has gotten hurt.He is such a wonderful person and we love him dearly and as far as the inmate goes there's not alot that will be done to him he's already in prison, for a start he doesn't need a bed to make a weapon out of so let him sleep on the floor.
