Update (12/23):

5 News has learned that a woman and her young granddaughter are dead after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Preston County.

According to the Dominion Post, Sharon Jane "Janie" Miller, 55, of Tunnelton, was found dead at the scene. Her granddaughter, Laurel Brook Miller, 3, of Aurora, died later at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Police said Miller was traveling south on Route 26, just outside of Kingwood, in a Ford 500 when she lost control on the snow-covered road. The car apparently slid into the opposite lane near Snyder Loop Road, where it was struck by a Ford F-250.

The driver of that truck was Oliver Douglas "Doug" McCrobie, 62, of Tunnelton. He was taken to Preston Memorial Hospital, then later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital. His passengers included his mother, Goldie McCrobie, 85; his sister, Shirley Pieart, 64; and Shirley's daughter, Martha Atkins, 37. They were all treated at Preston Memorial Hospital.
