5 NEWS UPDATE: Woman Killed in Route 50 Accident

UPDATE:
 
The Harrison County Sheriff's Department said a 78-year-old Salem area man somehow veered off the side of Route 50 and struck a drain culvert.
 
His passenger, an 82-year-old woman from Salem, died at the scene. The driver was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
 
Deputies are still trying to figure out what caused the driver to go off the road.
 
Deputy H.F. Lane and Deputy B.C. Deem are leading the investigation.

According to Harrison County Sheriff Albert Marano, one person was killed after a single vehicle accident along Route 50 westbound near Jarvisville, Thursday afternoon.
 
A man, who was also in the truck, was flown to the hospital.
