Josh Copen from the Josh Copen Morning show on 93.1 WFGM challenged 5 News Brittany Hoke to a Twitter bet saying he could get her 13 fans in two hours.  Brittany lost the bet and is now trying her very frist buckwheat cake live.

To make buckwheat cakes you have to make a starter.  You do that about a day and a half to two days before making the final mixture.

Click the video link to watch Matt Heckel and Brittany Hoke try their very first buckwheat cakes.

Before leaving, Josh Copen shared the the recipe for buckwheat cakes with us:

4 1/2 C Buckwheat Flour
1 1/2 C Wheat Flour
1 PKG Dry Yeast
1 TBL SP Brown Sugar
Warm Water
This will form a very thick batter.  Mix and let set over night to rise.  Refrigerate after rising.

Baking Cakes:

1 C Starter
2 TBL SP Brown Sugar
1/4 TSP Baking Soda (rounded)
1/4 TSP Salt
3/4 - 1 C Warm Water to thin

Bake on hot griddle (400 degrees).  Griddle will need a light spray of non stick spray before baking each cake.
