Doctor Jeremy Soule from United Hospital Center is sitting in as our local expert for part three in our Health Alert series on the obesity epidemic in our state. We've already talked about managing your weight through diet and exercise in our previous segments, and now Doctor Soule will explain the link between obesity and diabetes, another serious problem in the state. Unlike type 1 diabetes type 2 can be prevented or delayed.

On this segment we will discuss:
  • The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is rising at an alarming rate in our area. Does that have anything to do with the rise in obesity?
  • If you're a diabetic and obese, what additional risks do you face?
  • What would you recommend to an obese diabetic?
  • What should someone do if he or she thinks diabetes is a risk for them?
