Alderson Broaddus University announced they've created their first online degree program.
AB officials said it's a great addition not only for the state, but for the nation as well.
The program is in the field of Nursing. It'll let diploma nurses and nurses who have an associates degree advance in their career. After completing the 18 month program, the nurse will then have a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
This opens the door for management level work. AB officials said it's a great addition to their legacy. They were the first in the state to offer a four-year B.S.N. program.
Online administrator Dr. Brenda Mason said, "The Institution of Medicine has asked that by 2020 80% of registered nurses have bachelor's level of degrees and what we're trying to do is help make that happen. How do we get them back here? We offer it online."
They're offering admission for the program this January.
