Alderson Broadus College is preparing to welcome in a record breaking number of Freshmen, but they're out of space in the dorms. Saturday morning they held a ground breaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction in their new residential village buildings.
This morning's ceremony included six different speakers who paid tribute to the hard work it took to get these buildings designed and ready for construction. The Board of Trustees was also honored at the short ceremony. College officials said they believe this will bring greater diversity to campus.
"With this we see students having the opportunity to come and live on campus who are from different states and different countries. So that's going to help add to our diversity and all of our student involvement as well. We're so happy to have them on campus where they have an opportunity to live and learn together," said Sarah Ward, Dean of Student Affairs.
After the ceremony, college officials broke ground on the new building.
