Saturday just seemed like the day for benefit walks in Harrison County. Early Saturday morning, over 400 people gathered at the FBI Complex in Clarksburg for the 12th Annual Jerry Dove Memorial 5K.
The race is named after a special agent from our state who was killed in line of duty in a Miami fire fight. Organizers said they started this event simply in his honor. All proceeds from the even go to their Nonprofit Recreation Association for the FBI. Saturday, the course record was broken by David McCollam, who finished the race in 16 minutes and 20 seconds.
"We had a pretty big turn out. There were a lot of people here today even though it rained and it was cold, we still had a great turn out. We have a great committee, we have a huge race crew, people come out and volunteer and we couldn't do it without them. So we hope to continue it for years and years to come," said Julie Minnacci, Coordinator.
The 5K is always held on a Saturday in either September or October, whenever there is an away WVU football game, so be sure to stay on the look out.
