Even with the government being shutdown for 16 days, and fear of hitting the debt ceiling, a new report from the Labor Department shows promising news in the job market.

Studies show unemployment applications fell to just 15,000. Combined over the past few months, they fell to about 350,000.

Some of you said even though this is promising news, you're not convinced that the economy is doing any better.

"I haven't seen the increase from the economy we have. I think there's a lot of things looming in the future that are going to cause a problem," said Amy Eggleston, who doesn't think the economy is improving.

The Labor Department also said about 70,000 government employees applied for unemployment, but due to getting back pay, the ones who did get those benefits will have to give them back.
