UPDATE (5:30 PM):
5 News' Zach Maskell just gave us another update: police were searching the woods because it was possible that the suspect was running from the "standoff house" to another nearby house through the woods.
The suspect is believed to still be in the house, and the standoff is ongoing. We'll update you as soon as we hear anything more.
UPDATE (4:34 PM):
5 News' Zach Maskell just informed us that police are staging on the road near the house in Randolph County. They're supposedly looking in the woods for the shooter, who is believed to have fled from the house where the standoff took place.

5 News' Zach Maskell and Randolph County Superintendent Dr. James Phares both just informed us that students have been released from school. That happened around 3:15 p.m.
Again, all students are safe and accounted for.
We were also told that the standoff is still ongoing.

State Police officials have now confirmed that the suspect in the shooting is engaged in a standoff with local officers.
The shooter is inside the house where the alleged shooting took place.
The victim was able to call 911 and has been taken to a local hospital. No word on that person's name or condition.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:15 PM)
Reports are coming into the 5 Newsroom out of Randolph County about a shooting at a home in Coalton. We don't know much about the shooting itself, but we do know that students at nearby Coalton Elementary School have been locked inside. All of the students there are ok but school officials want to ensure their safety.
West Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Baylous says the shooting occurred around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at a house across from the Coalton Elementary school, about 12 miles west of Elkins.
Baylous says details about the shooting are unclear, but the victim was able to call 911 and has been taken to a hospital. A landing zone had to be set up across from Coalton Elementary School .
The shooter is believed to be inside the house, and police are now in a standoff.
All students are accounted for and are safe. Baylous says children will be kept inside the school for now, where they are safe.
