Budget cuts for sports in middle schools didn't scare parents and teachers in Philippi. They bonded together to raise over $24,000.
Members of the Barbour All County Sports Organization have been raising money since February to help pay for the salaries and benefits of middle school coaches in Barbour County due to budget cuts. Monday evening the BACSO presented the Board of Education a check for $24,000, with a $10,000 donation on the way from an anonymous donor. Members of the BASCO couldn't be more proud.
"I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I knew if we all worked together that we could complete this. It's a big honor and it's just, you know, the kids are excited knowing that they're going to be able to continue with sports in the county," said Robin Humpherys, Vice President of BASCO.
BASCO is still accepting donations toward their cause.
