Women from all over were invited to learn new skills that they may never have had the opportunity to try Saturday at Tygart Lake State Park. Outdoor workshops included things like boating, archery and fly fishing.
Organizers said it's a great way for a woman who might be self-conscious about learning a new skill to step out of her shell. The different classes will continue throughout the weekend and wrap up on Sunday.
"Women love the event. They like to get out with other women to learn these activities so they don't feel as self-conscious. They feel more comfortable with other women," said Billie Shearer, the West Virginia BOW Coordinator.
"It's really awesome. I get an opportunity to help a woman come out of her shell ," said Pamela Smarr, a BOW instructor.
