ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) - A Belington woman faces up to 10 years in prison for defrauding a program that cares for West Virginia seniors and disabled residents.
U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld said Monday that 44-year-old Janel Phillips pleaded guilty to federal program fraud last week in U.S. District Court in Elkins.
Phillips was one of nine regional managers for the federally funded Long-Term Care Ombudsman Fund. She was charged with fraudulently obtaining more than $90,000 from the program from January 2007 to May 2010 by submitting false mileage claims and time sheets.
The program is administered by Legal Aid of West Virginia. It was created under federal law to improve the quality of life and level of care for seniors and disabled people housed in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes.

I don't believe anyone could get anymore lower than this. Taking advantage and stealing from programs that benefit the less able in the country is utterly dispicable! She should serve every single second of that sentence!
