The Benedum Festival kicks off Thursday, July 10 at Bridgeport City Park. Organizers are putting a new spin on the festival by incorporating an oil and gas expo. There will be displays describing the different procedures and products in the industry.

Experts will be able to answer questions about the drilling and extracting process. Besides the oil and gas expo, other new activities will include a talent contest, with the chance to win $500 in prizes. Competition is open to all middle and high school students in Harrison County.

They're also bringing back some older games. These will include a dunking booth (with local celebrities in the tank), bean bag toss, ring toss, and even a dart throw. In addition to that, they'll be fireworks, live music, along with food and craft vendors.

They'll be a Pet Parade, 5K run, a fishing derby, a chicken roast, children's activities and to top it all off, a car show. The festival continues until July 12.
