Are you getting ready to hit up the stores for Black Friday? It's an exciting time for deals but it's also a great shoe-in for scammers and thieves. That's why Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is sending out a statewide warning on how to protect yourself before you head out.
Morrisey suggests you shop with other people so you can watch out for each other and devise a plan in case you were to get separated. Ladies, don't leave your purse in your shopping car, and, if you wear in on your shoulder, don't leave it open.
You hear about people breaking into cars and stealing gifts so make sure you put your gifts in your trunk, cover up whatever is in your car and lock it.
Another big thing these days is shopping online on Cyber Monday. If you're going to participate then, try to shop online with companies you know and trust. If you aren't familiar with a site, do a background check and look at its reviews. Also, consider using a one-time or limited use credit card.
