A high profile trial in Lewis County was postponed Thursday morning. Thomas Bonnell, Jr. was going to face a jury at the end of the month but he's supposedly close to cutting a deal with the prosecution, so the defense asked for a delay.
Bonnell supposedly led a deputy on a chase in March. He was shot during the incident but a grand jury did not believe there was criminal evidence to charge the deputy who shot him.
Bonnell is charged with fleeing from an officer, breaking and entering, grand larceny and conspiracy. He's currently in the Central Regional Jail serving time for charges out of Gilmer County.
If a plea isn't made, Bonnell will also head to trial in February.
