A man was arrested in Morgantown Thursday for neglecting an infant to the point of serious injury.

According to Sergeant Scott of the State Police Crimes Against Children Unit, 24-year-old Daniel Watkins is charged with two counts of child neglect causing serious bodily injury. In November of last year, a four-month-old victim was admitted to Ruby Memorial Hospital with first degree burns on her face that Watkins said were caused by a hair dryer. The victim also had bruises on her stomach, an older burn on one hand, and evidence of a previously-broken arm.

State Police said they did not believe the excuses Watkins gave for the injuries were real. Watkins is now being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
