You may remember a week ago, 5 News told you about childhood obesity falling in many states across the country, while only rising in three.

While this is good news, the CDC is reporting that adult obesity is still a huge problem.

Even though childhood obesity rates are slowly dropping, it is estimated that 18% of deaths of people ages 40 to 85 is a result of obesity.

The new study suggests that the death rates from obesity are three times higher then previously estimated.

While getting in shape is difficult, people said committing to a healthier lifestyle isn't easy, but very rewarding.

"It doesn't really hit you all at once until you step on a scale one day or you look in the mirror and you start to see your looks physically. It can be kind of tough starting up and getting into the habit, but once you see results physically it gets you motivated more then anything," said WVU student Jimmy McHale, who has lost 30 pounds in the last year between diet and exercise.

Obesity can lead to many problems including heart disease, cancer, and sleeping disorders.
