Several gathered their crew, set their sails, and put on their sailor caps on Saturday.
Stonewall Jackson Resort held its 2nd annual cardboard boat race. Teams of all kinds came out to show off their handmade vessels to race against each other.
All of the boats were made out of cardboard and several showed off their creative skills. Boaters say this is a great and unique way to have some fun.
"It was a good time. Have you ever built anything out of duct tape and cardboard? At least it didn't sink," said Drew Bowyer and Skylar Metz, boater participants.
"You get to ride your creations and it's just like woo-hoo," said Stevie Babbitt, boater participant.
"It was a blast building it. It's a little bit harder to row out there than you would think. Especially when your dressed like a clown," said Mike Woods and Jeanette Woods, boater participants.
Trophies were awarded for best design and the most spectacular sinking.
