A Morgantown agency that helps abused, neglected and at-risk children is moving to better serve those kids.
The Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center held an Empty House fundraiser Tuesday. The center provides a safe environment for children to tell their story of abuse and also provides counseling, therapy and support services for the non-offending parent and other family members.
The center is moving to a two-story building on Greenbag Road from their current location on Pineview Drive.
"We really like this space because it's a much more home like atmosphere which is very comforting for children because when they have to come and tell their tragic stories of abuse, I'm sure you can imagine that's a very difficult time. Our job is to help support them and make sure they're not retraumatized by the system designed to help them," said Dr. Laura Capage of the center.
All the center's services are free. Fore more information call 304-598-0344.
