With all the talk in Washington, D.C. about gun control, authorities are seeing a rise in people wanting to learn how to safely use a firearm to protect themselves.
About 70 people attended a concealed carry safety class at the 4H Center in Clarksburg Wednesday night. The session included classroom lectures, videos and a test.
The second part will include each participant demonstrating what they have learned about gun safety while shooting nearly 100 rounds at the Deputy Sheriff's Association Shooting Range.
If students pass both sessions, they'll earn their concealed carry permit.
The class was sponsored by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and the Deputy Sheriff's Association.
