At 12:17 A.M, Austin Elliott Ward was welcomed into the world at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He weighs 8 pounds, 1 ounce and is 20 and a half inches long.
Austin's wasn't supposed to arrive until January 6th, so this was a little surprise for his parents Kaci and Turner, but it was the best way they could kick off the New Year.
"It's hard to believe. We didn't expect it. We were to be induced today (January 1st), so it was a bit of a surprise," said Kaci Rogers-Ward.
After just a few hours, both mom and dad were adjusting to their new roles as parents.
"It's definitely new. I'm tired, but it's well worth it," said Kaci.
"I'm pretty excited. It's going to be a new thing for me," said Turner Ward. "He's a pretty good guy. He's daddy's little boy right now. I soothe him to sleep and wake him up when he needs to be, so I'm pretty happy."
They have just one hope for their son for the rest of 2014 and beyond.
"Just happy and healthy. That's all we want," said Kaci.
Kaci Rogers-Ward and Turner Ward are from Clarksburg.
