During a time of recession, jobs can be tough to come by. That's why representatives from the VA Medical Center in Clarksburg hosted a nursing job expo to help give those just graduating a college a chance to change their life.
Several fresh college graduates came out to the VA Medical center in Clarksburg to apply for all kinds of nursing jobs.
5 News talked to one of the applicants Saturday, and she said in times like these where jobs are hard to come by, it's very important for communities to host events like this.
"This is the best way to bring recent graduates of WVU, Fairmont State, and other colleges together to get them aware that the jobs are here and they can come here to apply," said Lisa Shackelford, applicant.
Officials from the hospital said this job expo is a great way to let people know that jobs are available during the hard economic times.
"It gets the word out to the community that the positions are available, and to let them know that we're hiring and they can give back," said Paul Carter, Associate Nursing Director of Ambulatory Car.
If you missed out on Saturday's job expo, there will be plenty of similar events at the VA in the future.
