The Public Service Commission of West Virginia's Transportation Enforcement Division began a 72-hour safety check for commercial vehicles on Tuesday. On Wednesday, safety checks were done at the Cooper's Rock Weigh station on the westbound side of Interstate 68 near mile marker 15.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance is sponsoring this year's Roadcheck event in order to promote safety and security on the state's roads regarding commercial vehicles.
Last year a total of 632 commercial vehicles were inspected. Officials are saying 112 of those vehicles were found to be unsafe and were taken off the road until they legally safe.
On Thursday, more safety checks will be conducted at the Bluestone rest area on Interstate 77 between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
