Consol Officials: Still No Timetable For Mine Reopen
Written by Your 5News Team
Created on April 10, 2013 @ 5:55PM
The following is press release from Consol officials:

CONSOL Energy's mine examiners have completed  their examination of the entire Blacksville No. 2 mine and the advance teams continue to work on construction of the seals. The examination revealed no significant issues pertaining to safe operation of the mine. CONSOL Energy has resumed normal pre-shift examinations as well as regular weekly airway inspections of the mine.

During the mine examinations, water accumulation was discovered in several locations.  CONSOL Energy has received approval to power the rectifiers for the purpose of de-watering these areas and the work is ongoing.  This process has been successful and the mine is now safe for travel on all haulage tracks.

CONSOL energy continues seal construction work at the KuhnTown and Orndoff locations.

CONSOL Energy's team remains on-site around the clock to continue monitoring gas levels, which remain at steady levels, and to maintain the water seal in the mine. It remains unknown when the Blacksville No. 2 mine will resume production.

CONSOL Energy will provide updated information as it becomes available.
