It looks like a mine that's been closed for more than a month due to a fire could open again early next month. That's the latest from officials with Consol concerning their Blacksville Number Two Mine.
The mine has been closed since mid-March when officials detected smoke pouring through an air-shaft. Since that time crews have worked to put the blaze out and get that mine open again.
Lynn Seay, a spokesperson with Consol, said they're installing seals for the mine. After that's done crews can start getting ready to head back to work.
Seay said they need to get approval from state and federal officials before that happens, but she mentioned that should be sometime next month.
