One local college was just recognized for its efforts to help veterans go to school.

Davis & Elkins College is among the top 20% of Military Friendly Schools in the country.

The list put together by Victory Media looked at more than 10,000 schools.

Those colleges included on the list helped veterans go to school or assisted them while they're deployed.

D&E officials said they do many things for student veterans, including a military lounge on campus.

"I think it's a priority for this institution. Recognizing their service to our country, and really for all of us, this is the least we can do to thank them," said Dr. Michael Mihalyo, President of D&E.

The school also has the Veterans Upward Bound Program, and free lunches at the college's dining hall.
