MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A public shooting range in Monongalia County that's been closed since May is reopening.
The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources closed the range at the Pedlar Wildlife Management Area because of vandalism and littering problems.
DNR director Frank Jezioro says the range will reopen Friday.
Jezioro says in a news release that the agency plans to increase patrols by DNR police officers. The agency also has made modifications to the facility to deter unsafe use.
The range will be open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays from 9 a.m. until sunset and Sunday from noon until sunset. It will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Jezioro had said earlier that vandalism and littering has been problem at public shooting ranges across the state.

This is great news to the sportsmen in the area. Many thanks to the WV DNR. This range has been missed since the closing in May 2012.
