5 News has confirmed that a man in Doddridge County has signed over ownership of around 30 dogs, because of failure to pay taxes and inability to care for them.

The dogs were staying at a home on Long Run Road in Greenwood. Doddridge County Sheriff Michael Headley told 5 News this wasn't a seizure and no criminal charges have been filed at this time. But the dogs were malnourished and will be taken to the Harrison County Animal Control, where some of them may have to be euthanized.

Sheriff Headley also said the dogs were a mix-breed and most of them were between two and three years old.
