Memorial Day is less than a week away and our local veterans over at the VA got a special surprise. Employees that work at Dominion spent their day painting and landscaping the outside of the medical center.

Volunteers said this is just a small way to give back to all the veterans who have done so much for them. And employees at the VA said they're grateful to all those who showed up.

"Obviously our focus is on our veterans and it's nice to see other companies coming in focusing on our veteran patients and helping us out so we can support our veterans," said Thomas Gallagher, Chief of Voluntary Services.
"It touches me because I come from a large family of veterans and we have veterans that are working and volunteering today," Kendra Cumpston, Coordinating Volunteer.

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner, so make sure you try and show your appreciation for all those people who have or are fighting for out country.
