Easter egg hunts are usually for kids to enjoy, but some of our furry friends couldn't help by joining in on the fun.

Owners and their pooches came out to Marilla Park today for the annual Canine Egg Fetch. The event was held by Animal Friends of Morgantown.

Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds came to sniff out the colored Easter eggs. The eggs were filled with biscuits and doggie treats.

Organizers say they wanted  to give their canine companions a chance to celebrate the holiday.

"It just came to us one day. The kids were having egg hunts and then we just thought why can't the dogs have fun too," said Ronda Smith, co-chair of Animal Friends of Morgantown.

Now donations were accepted, but organizers say it''s more of a social event for dog and their owners. Many say this is a great opportunity for dog lovers to come together.

"It's a chance for all dog lovers to get together and have a good day to get to know each other and support a good cause," said Andrea Hoke, Morgantown resident.

"I think it's a great event to raise awareness for Animal Friends, but also get the dogs out and have them do something just for them," said Amy Pridemore, Morgantown resident.

Some of the pups in the egg hunt were adopted out by animals friends. And if you would like to learn about more events to take part in with your pet pals, you can visit their website by clicking here.
