More than 10 fire departments in Marion County spent hours trying to get a house fire under control.

It started around 11:00 Monday morning at a home on Ranch Road in Hopewell.

911 officials said the fire started in the kitchen. When crews arrived on scene, flames were shooting out of the roof.

No one was home at the time, except for a dog that died in the blaze. It took crews about two hours to get the fire under control. The home is a total loss.
