A man who stabbed his wife to death last year could be behind bars for at least the next 20 years.
On Monday, 62-year-old Terry Messenger was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the second degree murder of his wife, Ida. It was recommended that he not be eligible for parole for at least 20 years.
Messenger was convicted of the murder last month. He never denied stabbing Ida but his attorney fought that it was spur of the moment and not a premeditated murder.
Terry stabbed Ida 12 times at her Good Hope home last November.
