Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College are making their international students feel more at home, by celebrating their heritages all week long.
This week is International Education Week at FSU & Pierpont C&TC. On Tuesday, international students raised their country's flags around the American flag to show that everyone is welcome. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a new report shows more than 40,000 students are enrolled in American colleges and universities, compared to last year.
"It is not only just celebrating international students, but also celebrating the internationalization of the campus. So, that also includes the idea that we are also encouraging American students to experience international countries," said Dr. Tadashi Kato, International Programming Coordinator.
All together, 31% more international students come to the U.S. for a college education than they did a decade ago.
