Fairmont Firefighters will be collecting canned goods and nonperishable items to help feed local families this holiday season.

The department will be collecting the canned goods now until the Fairmont Christmas Parade.

Items can be dropped off at any of the three fire stations in Marion County, and will be donated to all of the local food kitchens and charities. Fire officials want to ask the community to help them make sure everyone gets a good meal this holiday season.

"We just want everyone to have a nice hot meal for the cold weather, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. You can find donation boxes at our Central Station on Quincy Street, our Watson station on Mary Lou Retton Drive, and our East Side Station on Morgantown Avenue." said Brian West, Firefighter with the Fairmont Fire Department

Again, you can start dropping off those items now until the Fairmont Christmas Parade on December 8.
