Tuesday in Fairmont they held a Small Business Resource Summit to help small business owners get off their feet.
Over the past few weeks multiple business owners went through a series of classes to get a full understanding of how to run their own business. Tuesday afternoon, six owners pitched their ideas to the community and one person got to walk away with some financial help.
5 News talked to one of the contestants who is opening a local market called all things herbal. She said after this program she has the confidence to open and run a successful business.
"It's helped me to really formalize my business plan and my vision and my ideas and what I really want to do. Also, how to safely navigate the business world with risk and finances and how al of that works," said Christa Blais, Participant.
Blais said they're opening in just a couple months at 327 Adams Street in Fairmont.
