The snow and cold weather may have kept some inside, but if you have kids then the 2013 Toboggan Festival was a great place to spend your Saturday afternoon.
With a 350 foot hill and plenty of fresh snow, folks took their kids out to Chestnut Ridge Park in Morgantown for a few hours of sledding, skiing, toboggan limbo, reindeer rodeo, and pin the toboggan on the snowman. The festival was from 1 PM until 4 PM this afternoon so you needed to make your time count.
"We have three kids and there basketball games were canceled and all their teammates were coming up here so we brought them up here to go sled riding," Erik Parow told 5 News.
"This is the first time we've been here in a long time so it's nice to come out," said his wife, Leah Parow.
This sledding area is open for everyone to use as long as there is enough snow on the ground. You can bring your sleds and skis, or rent a toboggan for five dollars an hour. Chestnut Ridge was also serving hot chocolate and hot dogs to keep hundreds of people there warm.
The hill stays open until 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays and uses overhead lights once it gets dark. During the week, the hill opens at 10 AM and closes once it gets dark.
