A man who spent his life training others how to save lives died on Wednesday morning.

WVU Fire Service Extension Director Mark Doty passed away following an ATV accident in Marshall County.

Deputies said he was hauling lumber at a family members home when all of a sudden his ATV accelerated forward, went over an embankment, and sent him flying into a roadway.

He died from a head injury that he suffered. Doty was well known in the firefighting community for training fellow firefighters. Officials said "he will truly be missed."
