A lot of people are trying to keep their bodies out of hibernation as one of their New Year's Resolutions. Those people are trying to speed up their metabolism and lose weight by hitting the gym.
People who work at some of the gyms in our area said the number of people who signed up for memberships hasn't gone up much yet, but the amount of people who actually started showing up did. One trainer from WV Fitness 24 said they aren't like most gyms. They have group fitness programs for people who need a support system to help them along.
"We're giving a lot more tours now that the new year has came. There's been a big increase in our group classes because it's really quick. You come in, it's an hour long class, and you get a high intensity work out. Plus you're with a group of people that are motivated just like you tp achieve their goals," said Jonathan Groves, WV Fitness 24 Personal Trainer.
