Even though we're not even technically half way through the active flu season, cases seem to be on the rise. Some big cities are seeing more cases than usual and some treatment drugs and flu shots are running low.

In this area, quite a few people getting rather sick recently.5 News was told there have been a few diagnosed cases of the flu at the Doctor's Quick Care in Anmoore but there's even more people with a virus.

Like usual, this virus is running rampant through the schools. Doctors have been seeing a lot of kids in the office with flu like symptoms but it's not just kids. Adults are coming in too. The problem is that some people wait too many days to actually go to the doctors. Once it is in your system, it's a little harder to cut the time of the sickness. If you can, get to the doctors within the first 72 hours after you feel flu-like symptoms coming on. That way, doctors can get some medicine in your system.
Even though we're into the flu season, there's still time to get your flu shot. Some places may be running low on the shots but the Doctor's Quick care does have them and so do some other places in the surrounding area. Regardless if you feel the need to get the flu shot,  you should be very aware of your surroundings so you don't pick up the flu.
"There's a shortage of medications in some areas. The TamiFlu is running short. You have to watch what you're being exposed to. You have to wash your hands, good hygiene technique. Try to rest, fluids, anti-inflammatories for fevers," said Dr. Thomas Lauderman, of Doctor's Quick Care.
If you do feel sick, stay home. There's no need to risk getting others sick. Also remember basic hygiene skills during this time of year.
