90 plus packets of bathsalts, two cars and more than $50,000 in cash is what the Harrison County Sheriff's Department Street Crimes and Drug Unit seized during what some are calling a huge arrest at a local hotel Wednesday.
An undercover officer found Larry T. Greggory II, of Shinnston in a room at a local hotel. This man had apparently been a known drug dealer in the area.
Sheriff Albert Marano said the department had been getting some calls about Greggory for some time. When they first found him, they were able to arrest him for a capius he had from a prior weapons charge.
They then got a search warrant. Between the hotel and two cars, they found 95 packets of bath salts, more than $50,000 in cash and a gun. They also found personalized bath salts labels. Gregorry admitted that he had gone to Ohio at least four times to buy bath salts to sell here in the Mountain State.
"We've received a lot of complaints about this particular subject. I do consider him a major drug dealer in Harrison County, in the Harrison County area and I consider this a major bust in Harrison County," said Sheriff Marano.
Prosecuting Attorney Joe Shaffer said this arrest and seizure should show people the importance of the Harrison County Street Crimes and Drug unit.
"They've been on the ground a daily basis, a nightly basis putting in a lot of effort and I'm very ecstatic," said Shaffer.
The investigation in on-going. They believe Greggory operated on his on but more people could be involved.
Shaffer said Ohio needs to change their laws regarding the sales of bath salts because most dealers in this area are believed to drive there to buy the drugs.
