Harrison County School District will start a new initiative in the fall aimed at preventing child sex abuse.

The "Talking About Touching" program was announced on Monday at the Harrison County Board of Education meeting. The Child Advocacy Center of Harrison County will pair up with schools in the area to teach children how to stay safe.

"This is a personal safety program that the Child Advocacy Center of Harrison County has offered to provide to Harrison County schools. It's a program about touching and safe touch, and it's an excellent program," said Harrison County School District Title 9 Coordinator, Vickie Shahady.

"Talking About Touching" will be introduced to kindergarten students at Norwood Elementary and Nutter Fort Primary in October.
