CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Two West Virginia Health and Human Resources lawyers are suing after being placed on leave over an agency contract dispute.
Susan Perry and Jennifer Taylor target Secretary Rocco Fucillo, the department and two of its senior aides in Tuesday's Kanawha Circuit lawsuit.
Perry, Taylor and department official John Law were placed on administrative leave in July. The lawsuit alleges the defendants retaliated against them for raising questions about an advertising contract.
The one-year contract is worth an initial $473,000, but can be extended and shared with other agencies. The lawsuit says Taylor scrutinized the way bids for the contracts were scored on their technical merits, and found numerous problems.
The lawsuit also blames the defendants for last month's release of a search warrant seeking records from the officials on leave.
