Severe weather rolled in just before 4 p.m. on Friday and it left behind quite a mess. Heavy rain led to flooding and one of the hard hit areas was Main Street in Bridgeport.
Water rushed down along the road and displaced large chunks of pavement on the surface of the street. A combination of heavy winds and rain managed to knock down a tree which landed just a few feet away from traffic. People said low lying areas were flooded within minutes of the heavy downpour.
The parking lot of Ace Hardware in Bridgeport was one of these places. The store's owner, Sharri Brake said, "When the downpour started we checked out front of the building and water was pouring down the ditch, over the culvert and into our parking lot. It was all the way across Route 50 and it was up to my waist."
Once high water levels went down people cleaned up and crews went to work to fix areas of the road damaged by the storm.
