One Preston County man is lucky to be alive Monday night. That's because he had to jump out of a window just to escape a fire.
Flames broke out at the home on Hiorra Road in Newburg just before 11 o'clock on Monday morning.
The man who owns the home told 5 News that he was trying to build a fire in his fireplace when it got out of control.
That man was treated on scene for some minor cuts and burns. His home was a total loss.
