Friday afternoon in Lewis County, hunters were getting prepared for an early Saturday hunt for a good cause.
At the shooting range at Stonewall Jackson Resort, hunters were practicing their shots in hope to catch a deer on Saturday morning in the West Virginia Governor's One Shot Hunt; but instead of taking home their prize on Saturday morning, the deer meat is going to good cause.
"This goes through the Hunters Helping out the Hungry program the WV DNR has set up. So all the money goes through the Hunters Helping out the Hungry program to the West Virginia Food Bank. All the deer that are killed, the venison goes to the food bank, " said Frank Jezioro, Director WV DNR
This hunt is going into its seventh year. So far the program has raise over a little over $300,000.
