5 News just learned the name of a driver killed when she crashed head on into another car on I-79 today. That crash shut down 79 for sometime this afternoon.

Police said 21-year-old Samantha Schaub was driving north on 79, when she crossed over the median into the south bound lanes near mile marker 150. That's when she hit another vehicle head on. Both vehicles then caught fire.  Some witnesses rushed to get Schaub out of her burning car but she died on the scene. The four people in the jeep, including a child were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, some were flown by HealthNet, and others were taken by ambulance. Officials said they will be reconstructing the scene of that accident.

Anyone having additional information about the crash is asked to call Trooper Maidens at (304) 285-3200.
ORIGINAL: Police, fire, and emergency officials are still on the scene of an accident that happened on I-79 in Mon County.  Mecca 911 reported late Monday morning that there were multiple fatalities, but police on the scene have only confirmed one.
Officials on scene have told 5 News that preliminary investigations indicate that one vehicle was headed northbound when it crossed over the median into the southbound side striking another vehicle.
Four people were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital, including a child.  HealthNet did fly to the scene.
An accident re-constructionist will be called to the scene.
One southbound lane has been reopened.  Stay with 5 News for the latest updates.

To the individual who claims stupidity: The young lady that died in this crash is like a daughter to me and I am hurt and amazed that any human being could be so incredibly insensitive as you. I hope that nothing like this ever happens to anyone close to you. You should be ashamed!!!

Uh, it is quite possible for a driver to be speeding and have a seizure, stroke, heart attack and wrecks. A 'seizure' doesn't mean driver wasn't speeding "before" the medical emergency. Think people...think!!

I'll wait for the police report!

Stupidity? I would love to know how it was stupidity. What the news doesn't tell you is that she had a seizure while driving. She was not being stupid, was not speeding. It was a seizure. I hope you feel horrible for saying what you said, thinking you knew how the whole thing happened. She wasn't feeling overly confident, she was simply on her way back to Indiana to see her family.

I travel this route every morning. The stupidity of drivers is astounding. It's obvious seeing most of these drivers accelerate on wet roads and pass anything in sight that they feel overly confident and falsely confident they shall make their destination unscathed. It's sad but true. SLow down it really worth dying for????????????????

Seriously?! Someone has died here and all you people are talking about is where the accident was located? I live in Indiana and went to school with Sam so this really ticks me off that you people have no heart and are only concerned about yourselves.

As a frequent traveler through WV, I never attempt the trip without loaded on my laptop or Ipad. If you "click" on Views or Resources you can get a good idea where the problem areas are. The biggest drawback is that this site does not update in real-time.
Jun 17, 2013 at 5:24 PM Here is a great site that helps with Interstate Mile markers and exits

Mile marker 150 is in Morgantown....if bridgeport is exit 119 or 121 and Fairmont is 13-139, then 150 is past that...the highway system is pretty simple

Well, here we go again! I have no idea where Mile Marker 150 is, so, I don't get on the interstate till I find out. If a person is going from Bridgeport to Fairmont, is Mile Marker within these two points? it against the law to tell what town these Mile Markers are close to???? Everytime there is an accident on the interstate, all you give is the Mile Marker number. Unless one travels the interstate every day, they probably have no idea where on I-79 the travel hold up is.
